Kolarms was established in 2008 refurbishing weapons for the Film making industry and civilian collectors. Their business focused on upgrading weapons from the USSR, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria or former Yugoslavia. As the demand for their work grew they are now producing several lines of new firearms including the AK47 / AKM patterns rifles.

Kolarms is now offering a high quality AK47/ AKM kit with all new parts so you can build your favorite rifle at home. This kit provides you with most of the parts needed to build your new rifle with all NEW parts. You will need the following to finish the project: Gas piston rivet, 7mm barrel pin, AK47 Stamped receiver, Barrel & Magazine.

These kits are great for your next home build or store these for back up parts for your existing collection of AK based firearms. The KAM -17 parts a grey phosphate finished & very neatly packaged, great for long term storage. Stock up now for a Rainy Day as the new administration may shut down AK47 Kit imports in the near future and surplus kits are drying up.

  • All kits that we headspace will ship with a drilled gas port.

  • During assembly, it is normal for tools and machines to cause minor cosmetic scratches to the original parts finish.
Most commonly, drilling any holes will cause metal shavings to scratch paint around the hole, and hammering any pins in with a punch will remove finish from the pin.
  • In order to complete your build, you will need to remove your barrel from the trunnion, rivet the trunnion into your receiver, then press the barrel back in.
We pre-drill the barrel pin hole so you are able to use that as a guide when pressing your barrel back in.

Go/No-Go gauges must then be used to verify headspace before fully installing your barrel pin.
  • Your kit is 100% head-spaced correct out of the box. We perform a series of checks across several team members prior to every order shipping out.
If you have concerns, you must check headspace BEFORE changing anything about the headspaced assembly using GO/NO-GO GAUGE!!!

If you have questions, please take pictures, and/or video, and reach out to us.
  • Once the barrel is removed, or any alteration has been made to the populated barrel, at that point the customer or builder becomes responsible for the build. AOA cannot take responsibility for a headspaced assembly once alterations have been made to our gunsmith's work.
Removing the barrel and reinstalling it may result in head-space loosening or tightening of your pre-head spaced kit if you are only eyeballing the barrel pin hole. It can look lined up, but still be off by a few thousandths of an inch.
  • Recheck head-space after you are done riveting your trunnion into your receiver and reinstall the barrel, and ensure it is correct BEFORE pressing the barrel pin.

**If you need to send an assembly back, we will charge another headspacing fee. We also cannot accept receivers, so if it needs to be sent back in, you must remove the receiver if it has already been riveted.
  • Once all built, please clean your firearm before firing to make sure your new firearm is clear of assembly or shipping debris. If your assembled firearm is failing to cycle, sometimes metal burrs may get lodged in the gas port and need to be cleared out.
    Thank you again.

Waited a while after assembling to review

Posted by Chad Wagner on Aug 7th 2021

The good is every part is new and it was fun to really learn and assemble an ak from scratch and not just put a parts kit together. Unlike most parts kits the pin holes didn't get egged out redrilling gas block, sight blocks, and barrel pin holes. The bad part is a few very cheap parts that made assembly a bit difficult and prolonged assembly while replacing. Both levers for the rear sight block gas retainer and lower hand guard retainers shattered when I tried to peen them over using a small ball peen hammer for one and trying a ball bearing for the other and the selector is so soft you don't get a positive lock in any position. I did like how the front sight block and gas block had drill locations manufactured in for drill placement, just wish the rear sight block did as well. Overall a good kit that looks very nice and is fun to shoot, maybe a little overpriced for what you get.

All in all it’s a keep you busy kit a bit of a workout for the drill press but a good time

I took the not headspacing path my front trunnion only had 1 hole and the barrel I had was a bit to big to press so if you like to work or love a good project it’s a great kit for the kids to learn on

    Another great kit

Posted by ANDREW on Jun 9th 2021

Haven't had time to put it together and I still need to buy a barrel, but this looks like a great kit for anyone wanting to build a modern/tactical AK. Everything looks to be good quality. Shipping and processing order was quick. Would be glad to do business or buy another one.

Heard people say that the parts are cast, too my eye and a few others I have asked. I can say it is forged! To clear that up ASAP. Will say some parts are weak and are CAST, not all. As well I’m kinda upset I got the GEN 1 kit instead of the 2 as stated. Overall tho I am very satisfied for what it is and the price! Maybe $30-$40 cheaper.

    KAM AK Kit

Posted by MICHAEL PISTORESI on May 11th 2021

This kit is fun and easy to build. The only extra tool that I needed to purchase was a 25/64 reamer to install the front sight barrel. Beautiful and fun to shoot kit when done.

AoA makes this kit worth it

Posted by Nate on Apr 12th 2021

I have built one of these kits before without the modifications that AoA makes and many of the critical parts are so inexplicably off of AKM specs that it's basically impossible to assemble this kit with an AKM receiver and barrel without extensive modifications. AoA has not only addressed the problems in their description, such as reaming out the trunnion and drilling the gas block, they also give you extra, standard AKM parts of their own for all of the other weird out of spec parts such as the selector stop plate. The have clearly actually built these kits and know what it takes to make them work, and I would under no means have purchased one again if it wasn't for the extra work they put into them.

    Slovakian Parts Kit

Great looking parts kit. Very complete for a brand new kit. Only criticism is that some of the new components don't have dimples to locate holes for drilling.
