This is a rare opportunity to own a meticulously crafted piece of history—perfectly assembled for discerning collectors! This is the only Polish Radom AKML on the market, built with a receiver that was fully assembled in Poland using original Radom tooling.

This listing features a fully built original Polish AKML, built with exceptional attention to detail:

  • An original Polish imported receiver built in Poland by WBP Rogow using original Radom tooling), finished by Childers Guns for the final holes/machining.
  • An authentic new Polish FB Radom Forged Chrome Barrel (blued)
  • An original Polish Radom AKML Circle 11 Parts Kit, sourced from Poland's military. Choose from the all matching kits or the AKML kits with at least major matching serial #'s (bolt, bolt carrier, and trunnion +); receiver numbers do not correspond to the kits.
  • JMAC AKML Flash Hider-100% exact clone of the original counts towards 922r
  • LBE G3 Fire Control Group and Xtech Mag for 922R
  • PPN Night Vision Scope in the main photo is not included* But we will eventually have more to offer here

Finish

For collectors, we’ve preserved the original finish on all parts sourced from the kits to maintain authenticity. By default, we do our best to blend BFPU wear to the receiver and barrel so it closely matches the wear to the rest of the parts.

If you prefer the entire rifle to be re-blued for a uniform, like-new appearance, we offer this option. Or we can refinish and paint the entire rifle using the same Duracoat black paint color we use for Beryls (which is the closest match to original).

About the Polish Karabinek Automatyczny AKM:

The Polish Radom-produced AKM is a high-quality variant of the Soviet AKM (Avtomat Kalashnikova Modernizirovannyj) rifle, manufactured in Poland primarily by FB Radom and other state arms factories. Here’s a brief history:

History of the Polish AKML Rifle

The AKML is Poland’s night-fighting variant of the AKM, produced during the Cold War when Warsaw Pact doctrine emphasized equipping infantry with passive night-vision capability.

1. Origins

  • In the late 1960s–early 1970s, Poland was producing the kbk AKM (karabinek automatyczny wz. 1960/72), its standard stamped-receiver Kalashnikov.

  • The Soviet Union developed the AKMN, an AKM modified to use the new NSPU night-vision optic.

  • Poland, as a Warsaw Pact member, followed the same pattern and created their local version: the AKML (the “L” stands for luna, meaning “night”/illuminator).

2. What Makes the AKML Different

The AKML is essentially a Polish AKM configured for night optics, with a few key features:

PSO-1 style side rail (Polish pattern)

  • Added to the left side of the receiver to mount the PPN, PCS-5, PCS-5M, or Soviet NSPU night sight.

  • Rail placement and pattern differ slightly from Russian rails. This rail will still accept standard AKM side mounts, but it does sit on an additional reinforcement plate to better withstand the significant weight of older Night Vision optics.

Slotted muzzle device for illumination

  • Uses a unique slotted flash hider device designed to work with the night-vision IR illuminators.

Light-blocked rear sight

  • The rear sight leaf includes a special black anti-glare finish and sometimes a notch to prevent flare that could blind night optics.

Furniture & Finish

  • Most retain the standard laminated wood AKM stockset.

  • Night-use rifles were often finished with matte, low-reflective paint.

3. Production

  • Produced primarily by Łucznik Arms Factory in Radom, Poland (F.B. “Łucznik” Radom).

  • Production began in the 1970s and continued alongside Polish AKM/AKMS manufacturing.

  • AKML rifles were issued in smaller numbers, mainly to units expected to operate at night, including border guards, mechanized infantry, and special units.

4. Field Use & Role

The rifle’s purpose was to give Warsaw Pact infantry the ability to fight in low light. Before modern passive night optics, the IR/active units required:

  • heavy battery packs

  • large metal night scopes

  • external IR illuminators

The AKML provided the mounting system and flash-suppression needed for that equipment.

Lead Time

These AKM's are highly customized and made to order, offering a wide range of options to suit your preferences. Depending on the options you select, the lead time may range from 3 to 6 months.

*If you wish to receive the original parts we removed for 922r purposes (such as the full auto trigger group), assuming no State restrictions, please leave comments in the comment section.

AK-Builder is hand-making custom long rivets for us for this build, so everything is 100% original. If you purchase the parts, we will send you the proper long rivets shortly after they finish. The one fully built sample we listed, we milled down the scope rail mount attachment portion only to accommodate the standard Polish rivet length. Then we countersunk the trunnion rivet area to accommodate a standard-length Polish rivet. All future builds will utilize the custom long rivets.
