This all new WBP Polish Import Gen 2 enhanced tactical safety selector lever is a great upgrade for all AK owners that would prefer a safety lever that is much easier to manipulate whether it be under stressful conditions, tactical drills, or wearing gloves. Great Safety, Poor Finish
The safety is definitely an improvement in ergonomics. It is very smooth, and the index finger paddle feels just right (I wasn't so much a fan of the curved krebs paddle).
However, the finish is pretty bad, and the safety also came scuffed up. Rather than a deep smooth black, you get a thin feeling dull light grey/black that is slightly rough to the touch, sort of like the metal you don't want to scratch with your fingernails because it's going to make you cringe. A good way to describe it might be like the inside of a mailbox if you know what I am saying. If you own a nice rifle, this safety will probably stand out in color and ion finish against it. Also, there are some rough 90-degree edges on the safety bar itself with dips and even a rise. It seems like it wasn't properly cut in this section, then someone tried to patch it but failed? Not sure really.
I give this a 3/5. If the cuts weren't rough and if the finish was nice then it would be a 5/5 safety. WBP is known for quality products, but honestly I am not sure what is going on here. The FB Radom mag release I purchased with this is excellent. Deep black, smooth, perfect cuts. You might want to wait for that to come back into stock. Maybe I just got a bad one out of the bunch though. -
Great safety, but required tons of re-filing to fit my WBP Fox
Took me 45mins-1hr of sanding, polishing and filing every fitting surface to get it to fit my WBP, especially the right side circle portion that enters the reciever. Its probably the most ive ever had to modify on an AKM part. Although ive noticed any parts ive put on my WBP needed much more work than what others report on non WBP AKMs. I had this same issues with a WBP OEM gastube, they must make everything way oversized, or perhaps they are not really for the Fox rifles.
Fits great now, and is an awesome safety. I like it much more than the Krebs because the safety know is much bigger and it feels very smooth. -
WBP Safety selector SEMI
Great Product. Fit a SGL-21 AKM 103 (AK 47) perfect. Some adjustment will be needed if you want to adjust the tension (As with all AK's). Quality Product. Great for right handed shooter - index finger manipulation. If I had to give this a down side would be that the safety selector is not dark black as in the photo - but has more of a dull grey finish (looks like phosphate). I will be painting mine black at some point.
