These Romanian Military AKM47's are some of the last original Military rifles we could find overseas.
Carefully demilled and offered in a variety of grades. These kits were issued so expect wear but they are still fully operational. They will have finish wear and possibly carvings, cracked upper handguards, small dents, and dings in parts and or the wood furniture.

Grades:

1965-1968 Palm Swell BFPU Kits: These are the first edition switch to laminate furniture that started in 1965. These were the closest copy to the Russian AKM during that period. The Romanians used a laminate Russian red color handguard that is highly sought after during this run. This was used on all 1965-1968 kits and a small number of 1969, which was the year that started to transition to the dong. This type is highly sought after by collectors considering most Romanian palm swells have been replaced by dongs over the years. These kits are guaranteed to at least have matching # bolt, bolt carriers, and trunnions *many have lots more matching serial #'s*. These are rated as battlefield condition. That could include carvings in the stock sets/trench art, rust, finish wear, dents/dings in the dust cover, tweaked front sight posts/ears pushed inwards, and cracks in the upper hg. The rifles we received are still in fully functional condition and our selection was focused on selecting rifles perfect for builds that still have a long life ahead.

BFPU Non-Matching: These may have minor issues such as finish wear, front sight post tweaked in, and typical battlefield issues like cracked upper handguards. These rifles were selected by our agent out of a lot of Cat 3/Battlefield Rifles so expect parts and furniture to show wear similar to our Military Battlefield Md 63's. We recommend choosing this grade for those who are experienced with repairing parts. Non-matching kits may come with palm swell handguard instead of dong. Cracked upper handguards is also common.

Matching Numbers: We guarantee matching bolt, bolt carrier, and trunnion. Other parts may match but cannot be guaranteed. Finish may range from BFPU grade or better, but less than CAT II grade.

CAT II All Matching: CAT II kits were issued but are still in excellent condition, standing apart from other matching kits with their excellent finish. We guarantee matching bolt, bolt carrier, dust cover, gas tube and trunnion. Some parts may be non-serialized and would be considered matching.

Very Good Non-Matching: CAT II condition kits but some of the parts do not have matching serial numbers.

Early 60's kits (63 and 64): nearly all kits have cracked hardwood furniture. These kits are guaranteed to have major matching parts (Bolt, Carrier, Trunnion). Other minor parts are not guaranteed to match. 1963 was the first year of production for these kits so these are the oldest possible Romanian Md63 kits and very rare to come by! The 1964's now have dong handguards. The 1963 still has the proper hardwood palm swell.

You will still need to purchase a receiver, rivets, and possibly other small parts to complete this. These are original full auto Military rifles so you must comply with 922r and build this rifle in semi auto.
*Auto rate reducer, reducer spring, curved sear, trip spring, and 3rd pin removed for kits going to the following states:
CA
NY
WA
CT
MA

*Some of these are also oversized barrel trunnions, so it's possible you will need to get an oversized barrel. We can check the trunnion upon request if you place it in the notes PRIOR TO CHECKOUT, requests made AFTER order is placed may not be honored due to order volume.

    CAT II Romy Kit

Posted by KG on Aug 3rd 2021

AOA have outdone themselves again. My kit was in outstanding condition: 100% matching including all small parts, unissued, close to 100% finish, no dings on wood, etc.

Non matching numbers complete parts kit without wood.

Posted by Randy on Aug 3rd 2021

I believe the parts kit was in good condition considering I got a non-matching with the would remove the front sight look like it had been used for a battering ram but I was able to straighten it back out the rear sight block was complete and functional everything worked nothing was bound up the gas tube is free of rust and the gas block was also looked fairly nice the front trunnion also was very good quality very old considering dated 1963

CAT II Romy Kit was Gorgeous!

Posted by Blake Van Laar on Jul 30th 2021

My CAT II kit was absolutely beautiful and came exactly as described, Everything was matching numbers (including the furniture), The Finish on the metal was beautifully intact, and the wood was in fantastic condition, QC was really top notch when it came to selecting the CAT II kit I got. If it weren't for a bit of carbon on the gas piston and the 1973 stamp on the trunnion I almost wouldn't have been able to tell the kit was surplus. A+++ would absolutely recommend.

Romanian Mod 63 CAT II: A pretty decent kit

Posted by Paul McLagan on Jul 13th 2021

In general I am happy with the kit. They heard my request and got me a front trunnion that was not oversized and would fit the barrel I already had. Everything looked in pretty good condition. Some wear but nothing I wasn't expecting. For something that is going to be my beater rifle it was more than satisfactory.

My one compliant is that out of everything in the kit that arrived, the one item missing was the detent spring for the muzzle device pin. Yes it isn't a big deal I thought at first but a new spring from you guys is ~$4 which isn't the problem, the problem is the $10 shipping estimated for an item that is smaller than a quarter. The shipping is more than the item. Put the spring in a damn letter envelope! I wouldn't have minded paying for the spring if it was packaged and shipped (cost bundled with the other items) I wouldn't have minded. I ended up getting the spring with a cleaning kit and 2 mags so I didn't feel so bad about paying for shipping for a single small spring. Not my fondest impression of AoA.

Worn & Tired Kits, but the best BFPU

Posted by Richard on Jun 23rd 2021

I once again spun the big magic wheel of AoA surplus with their non-matched kits, and topped it off by requesting trench art on my furniture. They sure as heck didn't disappoint! Although I mostly lost the serial number lottery with only the bolt carrier and bolt matching, I won big time in the BFPU category. On first glance I counted two individual names on the stock, one on the dong with "kill notches", and a well-known field repair on the gas tube wood that is indicative on hard-ridden Romanian rifles. It's a bit of a basket case with somewhat egged trunnion rivet holes, but it should work.

    Romanian kit

Posted by Bajabugz on Mar 16th 2021

On my 3rd build. If you press your own receiver and have a functional brain this is the way to get a great build. Arms of America sends complete kits exactly as described. Sometimes I had cleaning kits or other goodies tossed in . Stocks have authentic battle graffiti that is another bonus. Order early because it will take awhile to get to you. Worth the wait.
